Solar power as a service delivers savings and sustainability without upfront investment
Rovio Pet Foods built a 672-panel solar power plant next to its factory and premises in Loimaa. The project required very little effort from Rovio Pet Foods, as Solarigo handled the implementation smoothly and will continue to manage the plant’s operations and maintenance. Solar power as a service is an easy and low-risk way to benefit from solar energy.
“Solar power as a service is an easy, low-risk, and concrete way for a company to improve its sustainability. Solar power also provides us with significant cost savings. Solarigo has taken care of everything, requiring very little effort from us. The entire process has been smooth and straightforward.”

Significant savings from solar power for Rovio Pet Foods with no upfront investment
Finnish dog food manufacturer Rovio Pet Foods chose Solarigo’s Solar Plant as a Service model, in which the customer only pays for the solar electricity generated. The plant was built on a dedicated site next to the company’s factory in Loimaa.
The solar power plant consists of 672 panels with a total capacity of 390 kWp. Its annual production corresponds to the electricity consumption of approximately 21 electrically heated detached houses or 1,580,000 kilometres driven by an electric car. Solar power now covers a significant share of Rovio Pet Foods’ electricity consumption.
Solar power has brought the company significant cost savings, with price being one of the key reasons for choosing solar in the first place. The current plant also has sufficient capacity to support future growth in production.
The plant reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 22.12 tonnes annually, equivalent to the amount absorbed by approximately 4.7 hectares of Finnish forest or the annual carbon footprint of 2.9 Finns.
Solarigo was selected as the partner based on its strong reputation and proven reference projects. The Solar Plant as a Service model offered Rovio Pet Foods an easy and competitive solution with zero upfront investment. Solarigo owns the plant and takes care of its operation, maintenance, servicing and upgrades, while Rovio Pet Foods simply purchases the electricity it generates. This matches Solarigo’s current description of its service model particularly well

“The solar power project has required very little effort from us. Solarigo has taken care of everything, and the entire process has been smooth and straightforward. Overall, Solar Plant as a Service is an easy and convenient solution for companies.”
