Finland’s largest commercial-property solar plant with sun-tracking panels
Satarehu Oy is building a next-generation solar power plant in Huittinen that is exceptional in Finland: once completed, it will be the largest solar plant built for a company’s own property in which the panels track the movement of the sun.
In the solution delivered by Solarigo Systems, the panels rotate on a single axis from east to west, which significantly boosts production. More electricity is generated from the same land area, and output is estimated to be around 20% higher than in a comparable conventional, fixed-mount plant.
“In the food industry, sustainability is an increasingly central competitive factor. Consumer expectations are felt throughout the value chain, and the new solar power plant is a concrete response to them. Energy markets have also proven quite vulnerable in recent years, and energy self-sufficiency offers partial protection against that.”

Satarehu chose a sun-tracking plant for better yield and profitability
Satarehu initially explored implementing solar power with conventional solutions, but ultimately opted for a sun-tracking system because of the production and profitability benefits it offers.
“The advantage of tracker plants is that they maximise production especially in the morning and evening, when the price of electricity is often higher. The panels follow the sun’s movement automatically, which improves efficiency without the need for additional land,” says Leo Naukkarinen, Project Manager at Solarigo Systems.
A building permit has been granted for the project, and design work and groundworks are under way in spring 2026. Installation of the plant is scheduled to begin in July, with commissioning targeted for autumn 2026.
