Project description

Solarigo Systems Oy is planning the construction of a solar park covering approximately 3.5 to 7 hectares in Paltamo, located just south of the town center and railway station, on the former sawmill site in Autioniemi. The total planned capacity of the solar park ranges from 2.5 to 5 MWp, and it will comprise up to 9,200 solar panels. The electricity generated by the solar park will be sold directly to the power grid. The site, owned by the Municipality of Paltamo, is a former industrial area well-suited for solar development.

Project progress

2023

Development

The Municipality of Paltamo explored developer interest in utilizing municipally owned properties for solar energy projects. Discussions between Solarigo Systems Oy and the municipality began in 2023. Solarigo identified the former sawmill site as a promising location and initiated a feasibility study for the project.

Q2/2024

Land Lease Agreement

In June 2024, the Municipality of Paltamo signed a 40-year land lease agreement with Solarigo for up to 9 hectares south of the town center on the old sawmill site. The final leased area will be defined in detail once all required permits for construction are legally in force.

Q2/2024

Permitting Process

Solarigo Systems Oy initiated the permitting process for the project in the summer of 2024. Construction of the solar park requires planning permission from the Municipality of Paltamo. The process follows the procedures defined in Finland’s Land Use and Building Act.
