Project description
The Ohrasuo Solar Park is a utility-scale solar power plant being built in Savonlinna, Finland, with a total capacity of approximately 9 MWp. The project is being delivered for Suur-Savon Sähkö and represents one of the first large-scale solar park investments in the region. Together with Solarigo, Järvi-Suomen Aurinko Oy, a company within the Suur-Savon Sähkö group, acquired the project from Skarta Energy, integrating it into Suur-Savon Sähkö’s renewable energy portfolio.
Approximately 14,000 solar panels will be installed at the site, generating renewable electricity for the Eastern Finland grid for decades to come. Solarigo is responsible for the full EPC delivery of the project, including engineering, procurement, and construction.
The project has received funding from the European Union’s RENEWFM programme, strengthening its financial viability and promoting renewable energy investments in Finland. Construction began in October 2025, and the solar park is scheduled to be commissioned in summer 2026. The project supports the regional energy transition, significantly increases clean electricity production, and further strengthens Savonlinna’s role as a renewable energy production area.
Project progress
Q1/2026
Panel installation in progress
Installation of the mounting structures and PV modules is currently in progress on site, together with the related electrical works. The modules are being mounted on the support structures, while cabling and electrical connections are carried out at the same time. The project is moving steadily toward commissioning.
