Project description

Solarigo Systems Oy is exploring the possibility of constructing a solar park in the Kuurola area of Kokemäki, specifically in Juutinsuo. The project is in its early stages; no building permit or investment decision has been made yet. Solarigo has initiated key studies for the project’s approval and has ordered an area-specific assessment, such as a natural assessment study, which is currently underway. Important or potential habitats of particularly protected and endangered species, as well as other noteworthy species, are also examined in the area.

After completing the assessments, Solarigo’s goal is to apply for necessary building permits for the solar park from the municipality. The project area currently spans around 40–50 hectares and consists of a swamp-based economic forest, as well as partly a field. The solar park is expected to be in production by 2026 at the earliest.

The project’s investment value is approximately 25 million euros. During construction, the project will have a local employment effect, for example, in the earth-moving and electricity sectors. Additionally, the municipality receives income from the power plant tax on the solar park. The solar park’s lifetime is approximately 35 to 40 years.

Project progress

Q2/2024

Development

Solarigo has explored the technical implementation possibilities and calculations for carrying out the park project in Juutinsuo, Kokemäki. The area consists of fields and sparsely growing drained peatland.

Q2/2024

Land lease agreement

Land lease agreements were signed with landowners in the Juutinsuo area in May 2024.

Q3/2024 – Q2/2025

Permit processing and environmental assessments

A nature assessment study will be carried out in the project area. Important or potential habitats of protected and endangered species, as well as other noteworthy species, are also examined in the area. A watershed plan will also be made for the project area.

The assessment required for the permit process was prepared during the autumn of 2024, and the application for a planning solution was submitted in December 2024. The surveys will be supplemented during the summer of 2025, after which the application can be processed.

A building permit is applied for once the planning permission application has been approved.
