Project description
Solarigo is currently constructing an industrial-scale solar park on the former Honkisaarenneva peat production area in Kuortane, following the end of peat extraction.
The solar park will be connected to the grid through a 31.5 MVA substation. Construction began in November 2024, with commissioning scheduled no later than February 2026.
Honkisaarenneva solar park will be complemented with large-scale an energy storage system (BESS) during spring-summer 2026. The BESS will be fully integrated with the solar power plant. The system enhances the plant’s operational flexibility and enables more efficient use of solar energy. This hybrid project marks a significant milestone in Solarigo’s strategy to develop flexible and future-proof energy solutions.
The project has received support from the European Union and is part of the RENEWFM program. Q1/2026
Hybrid solutions with fully integrated solar + BESS
Solarigo has entered into an agreement with Sweden-based Byhmgard AB for the delivery of a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solar power plant. The BESS will be fully integrated into the solar power plant, improving operational flexibility and enabling more efficient utilization of solar energy.
Q4/2025
Mechanical installations completed
All 55,536 panels have now been successfully installed. The substation has also been connected and commissioned to Fingrid’s 110 kV line. The project is progressing on schedule.
Q2/2025
Foundation work nearing completion
The site’s piling is nearing completion, and construction of service roads is underway. Approximately 40% of the mounting systems and panel installations have been completed, and the project is halfway completed on schedule.
Q1/2025
Installations begin
The installation of mounting systems and solar panels at the Honkisaarenneva Solar Park began in February 2025. Tree removal and water protection structures were completed during the winter. Earthwork continues simultaneously with the installations.
Q4/2024
Construction begins
Solarigo Systems Oy will begin the construction of the Honkisaarenneva solar park in November 2024. The initial work on site will include tree removal, foundation piling, and earthworks.
Q2/2024
The EU supports the project
The European Union supports the project through the EU’s RENEWFM mechanism with € 4,131,273.
Q1/2024
Construction permit
Kuortane Honkisaarenneva Solar Park received a construction permit in March 2023.
Q2/2023
Development
The project started in cooperation with the landowners of Honkisaarenneva.
Following Solarigo Systems Oy’s initial examination, the project was deemed to have potential. Investment support for large demonstration projects of New Energy Technology was applied through the EU by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
