Project description

Solarigo Systems Oy is studying the conditions for constructing a solar power park in Soimasuo, Hartola, approximately 13 kilometers southwest of the municipal center. The area under study is approximately 96 hectares in size, for which Solarigo has signed land lease agreements with the landowners in the area. The project area primarily consists of a former peat bog used for agricultural purposes. The project aims to construct an industrial solar park with an output of approximately 75 MWp, comprising approximately 125,000 solar panels. The investment value of the project is approximately € 41 million.

Solarigo has initiated key studies for the project’s permitting and commissioned a habitat and vegetation study for the area. The area will also examine essential or potential habitats for protected and endangered species, as well as other noteworthy species.

Once the studies are complete, Solarigo’s goal is to apply for a design requirement solution for the solar park from the municipality, after which a building permit will be used. The solar park is expected to be in production by 2026 at the earliest.

If implemented, the project will have a local employment impact during construction, for example, in the earthmoving and electrical sectors. In addition, the municipality will receive income from the solar park by the power plant tax. The economic life of the solar park is approximately 35–40 years.

Project progress

Q3/2024

Development

Solarigo has investigated the technical implementation possibilities and conducted calculations for the park project in Hartola, scheduled for implementation in the summer of 2024. The area, a former peat bog used for agriculture, was found to be suitable for solar energy production.

Q3/2024

Land lease agreement

Solarigo Systems Oy entered into land lease agreements with local landowners in September 2024.

Q3/2024 – Q2/2025

Permit processing and environmental assessments

The permitting process was initiated immediately after the signing of the land lease agreement by commissioning the necessary studies. The application for a planning solution was submitted in December 2024 and will be supplemented with a few additional studies during the summer of 2025. A public event was held on 20 February 2025.

A building permit is applied for once the planning permission application has been approved.
