Honkisaarenneva hybrid park progresses as battery containers are installed

The construction of the battery energy storage system (BESS) at Solarigo’s Honkisaarenneva hybrid park in Kuortane has reached another important milestone. The battery containers have now been lifted into place alongside the fully operational solar power plant.
The Honkisaarenneva project combines a 34 MWp solar power plant with a 15 MW / 37 MWh battery energy storage system. Once completed, the BESS will be fully integrated with the solar power plant, increasing the flexibility of the hybrid asset and enabling more efficient use of renewable electricity.

From former peat production to hybrid energy production
Honkisaarenneva is being developed on a former peat production area, giving the site a new purpose in renewable energy production. The project has received support from the European Union through the RENEWFM mechanism.
The project is an example of how former peat production areas can be utilised for new energy infrastructure and how solar power and battery storage can be combined into a single, flexible energy asset.
Electrical works underway
With the battery containers now in place, electrical works are progressing on site.
The next phase is to complete the grid compliance process for the hybrid power plant. After this, the project will move towards commissioning and commercial operation.
The Honkisaarenneva hybrid park is one of Solarigo’s key solar and energy storage projects and provides valuable experience for the growing number of utility-scale hybrid projects expected to enter construction in Finland.
The project is progressing towards commissioning during autumn 2026.
