Hirvensalmi solar park project moves into implementation

Solarigo Systems Oy, the builder of the Hirvensalmi solar park, has made an investment decision on the project. Construction of the solar park will begin during 2023.

The solar park, located north of the Hirvensalmi urban area and planned to consist of approximately 9,000 solar panels, will begin construction during the upcoming winter. Work will first focus on establishing the panel mounting structures, followed by panel installation and electrical works. The park will be commissioned and go into production during spring 2024. Lumme Energia will purchase the electricity generated by the solar park for its solar power customers.

The power of the solar park will be approximately 5 MWp, and the project area covers about 8.6 hectares. A 40-year land lease agreement has been signed with the Municipality of Hirvensalmi. The park will produce around 4.2 GWh of solar electricity annually, which corresponds to the consumption of roughly 280 single-family homes. The total investment is about EUR 3.5 million.

Preparatory studies for the project began in 2022, including an environmental assessment for the solar park. A change in the zoning plan became legally valid on 10 Nov 2023. Fencing and maintenance roads will be built around the park. The surrounding fence will be landscaped to minimise visual impact. The park will not affect nearby recreational routes.

Update 06/2024:
The Hirvensalmi solar park (Pöyrynwattila) has been completed and commissioned for production as of 26 June 2024. It produces approximately 4.5 GWh of renewable solar electricity annually.
