TOKMANNI
Tokmanni has taken significant environmental steps with the goal of being carbon neutral in its own operations by 2025. Solarigo has built solar power plants in Tokmanni stores since 2016. Now more than 60 solar power plants we have installed produce clean solar electricity for Tokmanni stores. More than 9 % of the company's own electricity consumption is generated on the roofs of the stores. Solarigo's model was important in the selection of solar power plants' supplier, which offered Tokmanni a low-risk turnkey approach to energy self-sufficiency.

A large process requires a reliable supplier
Tokmanni is the largest discount store chain in Finland, which sells high-quality home products at affordable prices. Founded in 1989, Tokmanni expanded in the 2000s by merging with other discount store chains such as Maxi-Makasiini, Tarjoustalo and Vapaa Valinta. Around 3,600 employees work in almost 200 Tokmanni stores all over Finland. The turnover of the Tokmanni chain was 870.4 million euros in 2018.
EXTENSIVE PLAN WAS IMPLEMENTED EASILY AND ON SCHEDULE FOR THE CUSTOMER
The competition in the field of trade is fierce, and the battle for consumers' attention is increasingly focused on issues of responsibility. As a listed company and Finland's largest discount store chain, Tokmanni's responsibility for the environment is greater than usual. One way to promote responsibility is not only renewable energy itself, but also producing it yourself. Tokmanni ended up with Solarigo when choosing an electricity producer, because Solarigo offered both renewable energy production and self-sufficiency.
A great plan requires a reliable partner. Solarigo's model offers Tokmann low-risk energy self-sufficiency in a turnkey style. Solarigo builds a solar power plant in the customer's business premises, so the company's own investments remain minimal. Solarigo also takes care of the maintenance of solar power plants and thus the company can focus on its core business. The good experiences of other customers from dealing with Solarigo encouraged Tokmanni to develop the cooperation into a comprehensive entity. The goal was to equip 30 Tokmanni stores with a solar power plant by the end of 2021. However, the goal was achieved well ahead of schedule, so a new goal of 50 solar power plants was set for 2021, which was also achieved on schedule.
The long-term goal of the strongly growing Tokmanni chain is to install a solar power plant on the roof of every store, if the structures allow it. "The production profile of solar power plants is perfectly suited to Tokmanni's electricity consumption profile, as the stores consume the most electricity during the day. Modern technology solar power plants produce electricity well even in Finnish conditions," says Harri Koponen, Tokmanni's store location and concept manager.

ALMOST HALF THE ENERGY FROM THE SUN
According to Tokmanni's experience, the installed systems have been of high quality and the cooperation with Solarigo has been smooth. With the help of Solarigo's expertise, in the best months, almost half of the stores' energy needs have been produced with the help of the sun. This has surprised and delighted along the process, as well as the low cost level.
According to Tokmanni's experience, the benefits of the solar power are already at a high level. Cooperation with Solarigo has brought Tokmanni to the forefront of the wide-ranging utilization of responsible and renewable energy. It's worth getting into solar power now, when switching to it is easy and cost-effective.
Tokmanni, Inkeroinen
We are very satisfied with Tokmanni's solar energy program. The production profile of the solar power plants fits nicely with Tokmanni's electricity consumption profile, as the stores consume the most electricity during the day.
