MÄNTYHARJU
SOLAR PARK

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Solarigo Systems Oy is studying the conditions for building a solar park in Mäntyharju, about 10 kilometers northeast of the municipal center. The planned project area is currently about 50 hectares in size. The area is mainly commercial forest. Part of the forest area is in harvesting condition and part of the area has been harvested recently. The planned solar park would have an output of about 37 MWp and it would produce about 32 GWh of renewable electricity annually, which corresponds to the electricity consumption of, for example, 2,000 electrically heated detached houses. The investment value of the project is approximately 20 million euros.

The project is only in the initial phase, there is no building permit or investment decision yet. Solarigo has started to carry out key studies in terms of the project's approval. A natural assessment study is being conduted in the area. Important or possible habitats of particularly protected and endangered species and other noteworthy species are also examined, and a watershed plan will be made.

After completing the studies , Solarigo's goal is to apply for necessary building permits from the municipality. The solar park could be in production in 2026 at earliest.

When implemented, the project will have a local employment effect during construction, for example in the earth moving and electricity sectors. In addition, the municipality receives income according to the power plant tax from the solar park. The solar park's lifetime is approximately 35 to 40 years.
