When sizing the system, the property's electricity consumption must be primarily taken into account. If on summer days the energy produced by the solar electric system exceeds the property's electricity needs, the excess part is transferred to the electricity grid. Electricity companies buy the electricity fed into the grid and generally pay the electricity market price for it.
